Our Services

James Carney Architects are an RIBA Chartered Practice with over 20 years of experience and we tailor our services and fees based on each individual project including stages such as;

  • feasibility and concept ideas/sketches
  • planning applications for all residential and commercial planning types
  • building control drawings, details, reports and specifications
  • tender and construction packages
  • site consultation

Our work incorporates all types of design and scale of project where each is treated individually in terms of approach and carried out to the highest standards with a close personal involvement in the design process with initial face to face meetings to discuss your ideas and advise on the best approach

The architectural services provided are based on the RIBA Plan of Work stages. For further guidance on working with an architect please visit the Royal Institute of British Architects website.

James Carney Architects was established by James Carney in 2015 after the restructuring of the former practice BTH Consulting.

Fees and Estimates

Every project is as unique to you as it is to us so it is impossible to put a set figure on an individual service tailored to your requirements. On that basis our fees are generally based on a percentage of the build cost or a fixed fee per stage or a capped hourly rate.

Please contact us today to discuss your requirements which generally include a free initial consultation at your property to review the opportunities that are available and how these could be applied to meet your requirements. Following the initial consultation we would then provide you with a no obligation fee quotation to provide the appropriate level of architectural services.

As an RIBA Chartered Practice we operate as limited company and maintain an appropriate level professional indemnity insurance.

Principal Designer

To compliment our full range of architectural services we are also fully compliant to undertake the role of principal designer to aid the client in the planning, managing and monitoring the pre-construction phase relating to health and safety under the Construction (Design and Management Regulations 2015).

These regulations also apply to residential/domestic works where the client also assumes responsibilities with further information available at the Health & Safety Executive website.

Aerial Photography

JCA also operates a service for aerial photography within our practice.

This gives us a unique perspective to use high level photography for inspections, surveys and aerial images of the completed works.
